Authority is not declared. It is examined.
TopicalAuthority Certification is an independent assessment for substantial digital properties. We examine whether a website operates as a coherent knowledge system: clear topical boundaries, meaningful document roles, represented entities, evidence discipline, differentiated coverage, navigable relationships and machine-readable structure.
PROPERTY
Not a keyword. Not a ranking. A digital knowledge system.
Certification applies to the declared digital property and review scope. It does not certify every statement on the internet, guarantee rankings or imply endorsement by a search engine or AI platform. It documents that defined structural, semantic, evidence and retrieval controls were examined under a published methodology.
Verified digital identity
Domain, ownership or authorization, canonical property boundary, languages, subdomains and included URL classes are documented.
Architecture and relationships
Topic systems, page roles, entities, hierarchy, contextual routes, orphans and cross-cluster relationships are assessed.
Claim and source discipline
High-impact claims, provenance, temporal validity, attribution, limitations and correction pathways are reviewed by sampling.
Human and machine legibility
Definitions, boundaries, headings, internal links, structured data and extractable answer units are examined.
We certify a reviewed state within a declared scope and date. Certification is never a promise that the property will remain unchanged, rank, be indexed, receive traffic, earn citations or be selected by third-party retrieval systems.
A visible certificate must be supported by invisible depth.

A score summarizes evidence. It does not replace reviewer judgment.
Each module is assessed against documented criteria and evidence samples. Material failures can block certification even when the numerical average is high. Scores communicate the reviewed state; they are not search-engine scores.
Fabricated evidence, deceptive identity, systematic plagiarism, malicious behavior, manipulated audit access or a major unresolved safety/legality concern can override aggregate scoring and result in refusal, suspension or revocation.
Certification pricing follows the declared review scope.
Prices cover one domain, one primary language and the stated number of indexable URLs unless a proposal says otherwise. Complex platforms, multiple languages, subdomains, regulated claims or unusual architecture may require additional scope.

One controlled path from application to public verification.
The certificate is visible. Authenticity lives on Verify.
Each approved property receives a compact A4-landscape certificate, unique certificate ID, digital fingerprint, QR code and public verification record. The certificate can be viewed online or printed to PDF; the QR and ID resolve to the Verify system.
SEMANTIC & TOPICAL ARCHITECTURE
TopicalAuthorityCertified
This certifies that the digital property identified below has been independently reviewed under the TopicalAuthority.org methodology for semantic architecture, topical coverage, entity representation, document-role clarity, contextual routing, evidence integrity and AI search readiness.
8F4K29X7 · 71A9D3C2 · E011B48AVerify any certificate.
Open Verify and enter the certificate ID, or scan the QR code. The result must match the certified domain, issued and validity dates, methodology version and current status. Copied graphics without a matching live record are not valid certificates.
topicalauthority.org/verify/A certificate is a living public state—not an immortal seal.
Valid certification
The public record matches the property, is within its validity period and has no open suspension or revocation.
Validity ended
The record remains visible for transparency, but the property may not present the certificate as currently active.
Temporary hold
A material concern, ownership change, unresolved complaint or review requirement temporarily disables active use.
Certification withdrawn
Serious misrepresentation, evidence manipulation, prohibited use or uncorrected material failure has invalidated the certificate.
Standard validity is twelve months from issue. A material redesign, migration, ownership change, domain change, large-scale AI publication, major incident or substantial scope expansion may require early review.
Not every applicant should receive a certificate.
Substantial digital properties
Publishers, knowledge bases, SaaS resources, directories, marketplaces, educational platforms, B2B research systems and serious content-led brands.
Remediation before certification
Properties with correctable architecture, evidence, duplication, routing or disclosure weaknesses may be invited to correct and resubmit.
Insufficient or deceptive systems
Thin sites, link schemes, scraped content, impersonation, malware, fabricated evidence, systematic plagiarism or properties designed primarily to manipulate trust.
| Trigger | Possible action | Record treatment | Badge use | Reinstatement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Certificate expired | Status changes automatically | Historical record remains | Active status must be removed | Renewal audit |
| Material property change | Early review or suspension | Reason and date recorded | Paused where scope no longer matches | Change assessment |
| Misrepresentation | Immediate suspension/revocation | Invalid status remains public | Must be removed | At our discretion after investigation |
| Correctable audit failure | Remediation status | No active certificate issued | Not permitted | Evidence-based re-review |
Payment funds the review. It does not purchase the outcome.
Certification may be refused
Application → audit → evidence → independent decision
The review fee compensates the work performed. Failure to meet requirements does not create entitlement to an active certificate.
Only declared systems are covered
Domain → URL population → samples → exclusions
Unreviewed subdomains, languages, apps, private areas and later content are not silently included.
Independent methodology
TopicalAuthority.org → audit record → certified property
Certification is not issued or endorsed by Google, Microsoft, OpenAI or any search engine or AI platform.
Private evidence stays private
Audit evidence → controlled review → public summary
Sensitive exports and findings are not published unless agreed. The public record displays only approved certification data.
Commercial relationships are visible
Relationship → disclosure → qualified interpretation
Implementation, sponsorship or partnership relationships may be disclosed where they could affect perceived independence.
Factual errors can be challenged
Evidence submitted → reviewer assessment → recorded resolution
Applicants may correct factual record errors or submit new evidence; disagreement alone does not change a methodology decision.
Built for properties where structure, evidence and retrieval carry business value.
Certification terms, answered without ambiguity.
Does paying the fee guarantee certification?
No. The fee covers scoping, evidence review, auditing and the certification decision. A property that does not meet the standard will not receive an active certificate.
Does certification guarantee Google rankings or AI citations?
No. Certification does not guarantee rankings, indexing, retrieval, citations, traffic, leads, revenue or use by any third-party system.
Does the certified property receive a backlink?
The public verification record identifies and links to the official certified property. This is a functional part of verification and registry navigation, not a separately sold ranking link.
How long is certification valid?
Normally twelve months. Material changes can trigger an earlier review, suspension or scope update.
Can a failed property reapply?
Yes, where issues are remediable. The re-review scope and fee depend on the severity and amount of new evidence that must be assessed.
Is every URL manually reviewed?
Not by default. Reviews use the declared population, system-level checks and documented evidence sampling. Enterprise scopes can include expanded or exhaustive review components where justified.
Can the badge be copied?
The visual can be copied, but authenticity cannot. A valid badge must link to a matching public record whose domain, certificate ID and active status agree.
What happens if a certified site deteriorates?
Material complaints or observed changes can trigger review. The certificate may remain active, be updated, suspended, expire or be revoked depending on evidence.
Are implementation services included?
No, unless the proposal explicitly includes them. Certification assesses the property; remediation and implementation can be scoped separately.
Can agencies certify client websites?
Yes, with authorization from the property owner and transparent disclosure of the applicant and relevant commercial relationships.
Submit the property. We define the evidence boundary before the audit begins.
Send the domain, approximate indexable URL count, primary language, business model, reason for certification and any relevant subdomains or regulated content. We will confirm eligibility, tier, scope, required access and price before review.
