Mixed intent analysis asks which missions coexist, how strongly they compete, what context can change their weight and whether one page, several page types or a diversified result set is required to satisfy the full task.
Mixed intent is a composition problem.
The goal is not to force every query into one exclusive category. The useful question is whether multiple user missions are simultaneously plausible and important enough to influence the result set or content architecture.

Several missions can coexist without the query being unclear.
Ambiguity and mixed intent are related but different analytical problems. One concerns uncertainty about interpretation; the other concerns legitimate mission plurality.

The strongest page architecture usually has a clear primary role with supporting blocks positioned where they remove uncertainty or enable the next logical action.
Intent can change during the same research session.
Mixed intent often appears near transitions between learning, evaluating, navigating and acting. Content architecture should allow the user to move without forcing unrelated missions into one document.
Relevance fails when the mission mix is mishandled.
A page can discuss the correct entity yet still underperform the user task because it overcommits to one mission, spreads itself across too many missions or routes the secondary mission poorly.

The page does not need to maximize every intent dimension. It needs to resolve the dominant task, support material secondary needs and create a clear route to incompatible next steps.
Mixed intent changes the content map.
Intent mapping should represent not only query-to-page assignment but also transitions between related missions, preventing one URL from absorbing incompatible jobs.
Complex questions can expose mixed intent explicitly.
Conversational interfaces can receive longer prompts that combine research, comparison, constraints and action readiness in one request. Retrieval may therefore fan out across several mission-specific evidence needs.
Audit the composition, not only the category.
